Will IBM buy Sun Microsystems for 6.5 billion USD?

From the series of shopping events during actual financial crisis here comes the news that IBM would be interested in buying Sun Microsystems for 6.5 billion dollars. The information appeared few days ago in The Wall Street Journal.

However according to the same publication there is great chances that the transaction will not go ahead. If this will materialize would be the largest acquisition in IBM's history, more important than that with Congos. The American company acquired in 2007 software solutions provider Congos for the amount of 5 billion dollars.

However, Sun Microsystems is still searching for a large company to take over and IBM is adding to the list including HP and Dell. Sun Microsystems registered for the last financial year losses of 200 million dollars.

You Tube, music and British users

Another week has past and we have some more news about You Tube. This time it seems that there was a misunderstanding between the bosses of the famous video sharing portal and PRS for Music, an association which owns copyrights to songs created by, no less than, 50.000 composers.

It seems that there has been some misunderstandings between the two sides in the past. This time the negotiations for a new agreement appears to have failed. On the one hand You Tube accuses British association that wants a price too high compared to that of the previous contract. Agency Reuters quotes an official even says on the You Tube blog that: "The negotiations failed because the British have asked too large amounts of money. Depending on the number of clicks on a video, the amounts would grow, inconceivable thing for us, because we would have registered losses."

On the other hand, British composers association for PRS Music, says exactly the opposite. They say that video-sharing portal owned by Google would want to pay a price below the contract that stipulated in the first one. It is hard to tell who is right, though? Should be You Tube or PRS for Music? Till then there are users in the UK that starting with today that can not access the music videos that are subject to copyright owned by the British association.

Need for Speed SHIFT - coming soon

The EA Games announces 3 new games from the Need for Speed series: Need For Speed Shift, Need For Speed Nitro and Need For Speed World Online. Only NFS and NFS Online World Shift will be available on PC and NFS Nitro will be available on Nintendo Wii console and Nintendo DS.
Need for Speed World Online will be a "Free Game" in which you can only play with friends and you can choose what car you want without having to carry out tasks or win races.
Need for Speed Shift is based on the idea of the simulator, providing a drop of realism of this game, having the opportunity to see inside the car. Graphic will be enhanced, and the vehicle control will be drastically revised and closer to reality.
Electronic Arts has sent a press release that officially confirms the three new Need For Speed titles and announces the approximate release date. Thus, Need For Speed Nitro and SHIFT will be available this autumn, while Need For Speed World Online will be released on the Asian market this year during the summer and in the U.S. market during the winter.
I am amazed by the EA Games speed when it comes to new names in the NFS series. It was like yesterday when Undercover was released and now they are announcing not one, but 3 games. Hardly wait to play them.
